Security Warning for Apple Users

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
Attention to Apple users! If it’s been some time since you’ve last updated your Apple products, now is the time to do it.
A study of a politically motivated cyber-attack has unearthed vulnerabilities within the iOS operating system.
This vulnerability is silent, meaning it requires no opening of files, websites or other user interaction. Apple is aware of the issue and has issued emergency updates to affected devices, which should be installed as soon as possible.
Affected devices include, but are not limited to
  • iPhone XS and later
  • iPad Pro 12.9″, 2nd generation and later
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later
  • iPad Air 3rd generation and later
  • iPad 6th generation and later
  • iPad mini 5th generation and later
  • Updates to iOS 17.0.1, or iOS 17.0.2 for iPhone 15 series users
  • iPadOS 17.0.1
  • watchOS 10.0.1
  • Safari 16.6.1
  • macOS Ventura 13.6 and macOS Monterey 12.7

For mobile Apple devices, you can find your model and software version under Settings > General > About. On macOS, go to the Apple Menu on the top left of the screen and select “About this Mac”.

What do you need to do? For iPhones and iPads, go to Settings, then navigate to General, where you’ll find the “Software Update” button. Budget some time, as your device will be inactive for the duration of the update process. If you haven’t updated in some time, you may need to repeat this process a few times until the Software Update interface says that you’re up to date.

For laptops and desktop computers running macOS, go to the Apple menu at the top left of your screen, click System Settings, then look for the Software Update button.
